What is AI Content Provenance Verification?

AI content provenance verification is the process of establishing the origin, authenticity, and edit history of digital content. As AI-generated content becomes increasingly prevalent, provenance verification helps distinguish between human-created and AI-generated content, verify that content hasn't been tampered with, and establish a chain of custody from creation to publication.

How ProvenanceGuard Works

ProvenanceGuard uses browser-based AI analysis to inspect uploaded files and generate C2PA-style manifests — cryptographic records of content origin, creation tools, edit history, and integrity signatures. Unlike server-based tools, everything runs locally in your browser using WebAssembly and JavaScript, ensuring complete privacy. The tool generates an integrity score (0-100), a visual manifest tree showing all content assertions, an edit history timeline, and compliance flags for regulations like the EU AI Act and California SB 942.

Why Content Provenance Matters in 2026

With the EU AI Act now requiring provenance disclosure for AI-generated content, and C2PA hardware embedding active in Pixel and Sony cameras, provenance verification is no longer optional. ProvenanceGuard bridges the gap between enterprise-grade verification tools and consumer-friendly accessibility — giving everyone a free, private way to verify and document content origins before sharing or publishing.

Supported File Types

ProvenanceGuard supports images (JPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF, SVG), text files (TXT, Markdown), PDFs, source code (JavaScript, Solidity, Python, HTML, CSS), video files (MP4, WebM), and ZIP archives containing mixed content. Each file type undergoes specialized analysis tailored to its format.
